Adobe Audition 2.0 and 3.0 error.?

I tried to install the trial version of Audition 2.0 and also 3.0 on two separate Windows XP machines. Both are generating the following error when I try to run the application: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime LIbrary, Runtime Error! Program C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Audition 3.0\Audition.exe, This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for mroe information.





Can someone help me with this issue. There are lots of posts when I googled this but none are relevant and helpful.
