Whenever i try to open a folder it opens but when i try to open a file inside it, my computer gives me a error
i will assume that u have already a good antivirus and u already scanned your computer for viruses. now go to start menu and press the RUN then write
sfc /scannow
if u have missing files then u may need the windows XP Cd which i am sure u have missing files. it will be repaird and u will be happy again. good luck

Therefore, clean boot your computer with only MoSearch selected on the Startup menu to determine whether this program is the source of the conflict. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type msconfig.exe, and then click OK.
3. On the General tab, click Selective startup.
4. On the Startup tab, click to clear all check boxes except for MoSearch.
NOTE: In Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), leave the *StateMgr check box selected as well.
5. Click OK, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
6. If the error message can be reproduced, repeat the preceding steps. In step 3, also click to clear the Process System.ini file and Process Win.ini file check boxes.

Clean the Windows Temp Directory

3. Press DELETE, and then click Yes to delete all the files.
4. On the desktop, right-click Recycle Bin, and then click Empty Recycle Bin.
5. Restart the computer.
Reply:If that does not help then you could try a system restore point that or reboot and repeatdly press F8 until you get the startup menu and try last known good configuration.
If that does not work then try a repair install ( you will lose all your udpates ) but that should defintly fix the issue.
Also were those files encrypted or anything like that ?
Also if you go to event viewer ( control panel --%26gt; admin tools --%26gt; event viewer )
Do you get any related errors regarding explorer.exe , if so what event id does it have and what is the full error message there.

I use Mozilla Firefox, and I have Yahoo set as my home page. For some reason it switched to the new Yahoo page by itself. I would switch it back, but, every time I open Firefox a window pops up and says: Microsoft visual C++ runtime library

Sometimes those settings that firefox has keeps certain scripts and java items from loading.
Also, try to open Firefox the way you always do, hit the STOP button up on top ASAP to keep yahoo from loading all the way.
Hit the TOOLS tab up on top, then hit OPTIONS. When the main box opens up hit the GENERAL tab and then use another site for your main page. Then hit apply or save whichever one is there. Actually http://www.google.com is a safe page to use. I never use Yahoo, MSN or anything that has some type of media to load as an opening page. Sometimes these items keep the browser from opening correctly.
Make sure you go through all the options from TOOLS, OPTIONS. Make sure you set the browser to NOT ALLOW SITES TO INSTALL PROGRAMS. YOU DO NOT WANT SITES TO INSTALL THEIR OWN PROGRAMS ON YOUR COMPUTER. Disable JAVASCRIPT as a default and also JAVA. You can always allow a site to run javascript from the little "S" that is on the bottom of the browser if you need to.
Also try to go to CONTROL PANEL on your computer, go to Mozilla Firefox and hit the uninstall, sometimes it asks if you want to repair the installation. If it does, then select that. If not, uninstall then go back to that site using IE and download the EXE again for a fresh install.

iTunes used to work with Vista when I first bought my laptop in July. Then it upgraded the newest version of iTunes and now I receive this message:

Everytime I try to burn a DVD with Roxio I get these messages:

first delete your cookies and temp files and offline content in internet explorer from, tools, internet options under general. what you need to do is uninstall yahoo 7.5 or 8.0 beta from your add remove programs{ in your control panel} {the tool bar and mail all of the files for yahoo that you see there} then also go to your c drive and open, go to program files, open, then go to yahoo folder at the bottom, open, then delete messenger folder {witch has the cache file in it} if it says you cant delete the whole folder it is ok open it and delete everything that you can. then go to http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n and download 7.0 run the installation, follow the direction perfectly but do not download tool bar or set as your homepage it will ask if you want only messenger nothing else , then your computer will restart, and then try to log on, it might give you an error for no connection, go to above the smiley and click on the messenger preference tab and pick no internet detection button this will fix your problem have a good night :P let me know if it works im at tlattero@hotmail.com :P 7.5 has a runtime error in it which causes your com to stop logging on and 8.0 was not compatible for my com at the time i tried to download it i noticed the problem when i tried to repair 7.5 got a message saying that it couldnt find the correct path to a dll file so i tried 8.0 and no such luck said i was logged on to two computers and keeped logging me out it aint a power outage it is a program malfunction. with both 7.5 and from what i can tell 8.0 beta version for now untill yahoo can get the chance to fix the problems this is only a quick fix. myself and the 30 some people who have already tried and it helped remember please you will lose your archives cause it is a new program but you will still have the same account and friends.

Yes I have tried an uninstall, then reinstall of the 3G card software.
I have tried a system restore.
I have also done a virus scan, and a spyware scan, to rule these factors out.
The card has been working for 6 months, flawlessly.

you should uninstall the utility.
Then restart the machine then the regedit and then reinstall the program with the card installed verses not.

What is this message about which comes on screen occasionally?
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if a program conflicts with the Mosdmn.exe and Mosearch.exe files.
The Mosdmn.exe and Mosearch.exe files are part of the "Support for fast searching" feature in Office XP. This feature is similar to the Find Fast feature in Microsoft Office 2000. Fast searching uses the Indexing Service in Office XP to create a catalog of Office files on your computer's hard disk.
Method 1: Clean Boot with Only MoSearch
The Mosearch.exe (Microsoft Office Search Service) and Mosdmn.exe (Microsoft Office 10 Search Filter Daemon) Startup items may be conflicting with some other program (or programs) running in the background. Therefore, clean boot your computer with only MoSearch selected on the Startup menu to determine whether this program is the source of the conflict. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type msconfig.exe, and then click OK.
3. On the General tab, click Selective startup.
4. On the Startup tab, click to clear all check boxes except for MoSearch.
NOTE: In Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), leave the *StateMgr check box selected as well.
5. Click OK, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
6. If the error message can be reproduced, repeat the preceding steps. In step 3, also click to clear the Process System.ini file and Process Win.ini file check boxes.

Video Error?
Any time I import a video file into any editing software, I get the error titled "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"

I made a ISO image of a DVD and wanted to play it on VLC player. I have seen where people can do it, but I keep getting an error when trying to open the ISO with VLC player.

I can't even start my Gimp, it went through the startup process and then nothing comes up!! I tried that for a few times and then it did start, but in the middle of my work there's this error message that reads:

I hope this helps, uninstall the program and reinstall it again. If the problem persist then go to the website and search for drivers that you need to install. And maybe check the website for some updates or check the YAHOO search engine and/or google it for some answers, goodluck!

a few days a go i downloaded an animated wallpaper it came with file that i ddnt see (winferno) and then my computer crashed now whenever i close a folder this message comes up:

I had this problem before and what I ws told from people on the internet was the best way to install a program after getting this kind of error is to do it in safemode status. ok i know what ur thinkin, and the answers yes i did compress the no-cd crack into where i installed the game. and no i didnt make a mistake, ive done it dozens of times before.
so the problem is that i can get into the game fine but after about 10minutes in, it FREEZES and goes back to the destop.

If this began recently, you could attempt a System Restore. Are you familiar with the System Restore utility in Windows?
System Restore is a utility which allows a user to undo damages or misconfiguration, or other issues in a system. It takes automatic images of the condition the system is in every twenty four hours as long as they system is turned on. Manual restore points can be created by the user at any given point in time. These manual restore points allow the user more fine tuned control over system issues.
To open System Restore in XP click Start--All Programs, Accessories--System Tools--System Restore. In Vista click the Start Orb and begin typing System Restore in the Search box, and when it appears in the list right click and select Run as Administrator, enter any password required.
Click on Undo changes to my computer, or similar wording, click Next. On the next page select a date. Highlighted dates are dates the system set restore points. Grayed out dates are not available. Click Next, then click Finish or Restore.
Your system reboots automatically and when finished and you log onto your account you will be greeted with a message stating whether or not the system was successfully restore. You may also receive a message of items unable to be restored.
Now, wait to see if the error occurs. If not, it worked, if it does try another restore point, but back further in time.
If this does not work I suggest you take your system to a reputable repair shop and have a technician fix the issue for you.
If your system is still under warranty you should contact your manufacturers technical support department. There should be support options at their website and also a number for you to call in your paperwork.

Under more advanced options make sure system folders, hidden files and folders, and subfolders are check marked. Run the search and if any other maplestory files/folders are found in the right panel, delete them. Then do the reinstall.

When i try to download the new patch in the middle of it there would be a pop up saying

I tried to install the trial version of Audition 2.0 and also 3.0 on two separate Windows XP machines. The problem seems to have something to do with internet explorer. Try re-installing IE. Or try going to mozilla.org and download Firefox.
If the problem persists, then there is something else going on. "runtime" error usually has to do with a program breaking down while its going on, if its not IE then there is another program made using a visual C++ library that isn't working right.
Since you're asking, I doubt you do much c++ programming, so it could be a virus, or some other program that you have on all the time that's messing up. If Firefox or IE don't work try turning off each internet program: AIM, Yahoo Messanger, MSN Messanger, Veoh Beta, Limewire etc, and see if it'll work.

My problem is I have recently brought a new PC Desktop and its been fine and i have installed games before and i know this game should work fine on the system and its not a old game either and the computer has the specifications to play this game. As it is Brand New etc.
I installed a game last night and that was fine. But then i came to click play on the game and it would progress from there onwards. The message was something along the lines of; Error Microsoft Visual Runtime C++ Library Error. and then after that it just says games name and this is abnormal error etc. I am guessing something is stopping the game from playing but i dont no much about this kind of thing.

It sounds like there may be a problem with your video card. Since you say it is a new PC, and you are certain it has the right specs, I would take it back to where yhou purchased it and have them service it (if you bought the service agreement.) I had a similar problem with a laptop I bought a year ago. The video card was defective and they had to replace the whole motherboard because of the way laptops are built. It was covered by the service plan, but I had to suffer with no computer for 3 weeks.

Reply:There are infact many bugs within Microsoft Visual Runtime C++ Library which I fould out through using Microsoft Word. The only thing I can usrgesst is to go to the microsoft update page, (The link is in the all programs selection of the start menu and when asked click custom update then check every windows update going.) Don't click the recommend button as this will not install all the updates that windows issued. You make be asked to install a program first by Microsoft in order to use the update site. This may solve your problem if it is a problem that windows has fixed.
Also check to see if any patches are avalable for download for the game.

check that you have all the service packs on your PC for both the operating system and the game.
If the error message name the file search for a copy on the net and put it in the windows directly.
Check the Copy of windows you are using against the game specs i have a game that runs on some and not others.

I installed rollercoaster 3 and everything was fine, after a couple of months I installed another game(forget what it was called, was a stratagy game though) then got the same error messages your describing. I un-installed the new game and everything was fine again.
Have you put a new game on?
P.s this game wont run on any graphics card lower than 128mb

How can I fix this?

SAL is self-assessment library. That is the CD I was trying to run when I got the error.
Runtime error?
Make a new folder on your desktop and copy SAL.exe into that folder. You might need to copy every file on the CD into that folder you just created if SAL depends on them to run( including the file structure).
If youre still having problems right-click on SAL.exe (the one in the folder you just created) select Properties. Select Compatibility tab and click the checkbox "run this program in compatibility mode for" and then select an OS that SAL supports (if you have Vista try XP SP2). Also check "Run this program as an administrator"

I get this error right after I start my computer, before I connect to the internet. And the screen switches from my desktop to the blue screen from the media center and it says media detection in progress please wait...but never does anything after that. I am just learning computers so I don't know how to fix my runtime library program, any help would be great. If I go to the download at microsoft, I don't know what it is that I need to fix it?

scan for viruses AND spyware, adaware, etc. and if the toolbar is infected, have it fix the problem. then you would uninstall the toolbar if you can.
BUT
I wouldn't use norton. i had it before and it just made matters worse. (norton likes to create trojans so you would buy the software.) i use AVG Free and Adware SE Personal in combination together. those programs have manual updates so just click check for updates or whatever i hope i helped!

It says Microsoft visual C++ runtime library and then a program file and other stuff. I don't know why this is happening. It happened when I tried to open a word document I sent to myself because I needed it later at a different computer and I couldn't do anything with the document because it made me click "ok" to the error then the document closes.. Its happened before, I can't recall what for but I remember the error. Please if you can give me any info on this error or how I can fix it. It would be greatly appreciated.

Reply:I think there is something wrong with your MS word application. try doing this:
start - run - winword /safe
see if it starts, if it doesnt go to control panel and add or remove programs and repair your office application installation.. you might need the CD for this but sometimes the application installation files are stored on your computer... try it...

You could try a fix by going to Start then Run. Now type in 'msconfig' without the quotes. Open the Startup Tab. Scroll down the list and untick anything relating to op.exe. Now click apply, click ok. Re-boot your computer. Eventually when you computer boots you will be presented with a new pop-up window - tick do not show again. Good luck.

Reply:Well im my experience if you reload dot net that might clear up the error. I deal with C++ errors alot and about 80% of those are cleared by doing the above. It surely cant hurt.

This program is not essential for your computer and can be removed. Its main function is to take care of other programs that run as soon as the system is turned on.
First thing is first - make sure you have all the Microsoft Updates installed.
Click here:

I am assuming you are running Windows XP.
Run and Install any "ActiveX controls" that pop up.
Then, when it asks you what Updates you want to install, choose the top option (should be "Express")
Windows will then search for available updates. Click "Install Updates" and wait while updates are downloaded and installed.
This may take a while - hopefully you are on broadband internet. If not, well... hopefully you do not have too many updates to install!
